How can you tell when being called curvy is a compliment?

Once my friend was feeling insecure and thought she was fat even though she's not, and I tried to make her feel better by telling her she was fine and that I was bigger than her and a little overweight. And then she said 'but you look curvy'. In the past year and a half I've lost 22 lbs (but I was a few pounds bigger at that time). At 5'1 and 136lbs I am still in the overweight section but at the lower end. My measurements are kind of curvy and are 34-27-39.5. Does it sound like by calling me curvy my friend was saying that 'you're not fat, you're just curvy' kind of thing to make me feel better, or does it sound like an actual compliment?

Curvy has two meanings: one is a euphemism for 'fat.'

One means you have a nicely shaped figure, fairly prominent hips and breasts.

By saying you were curvy here, it's a mixture of both. You're a little plump, but not so plump that you don't have a nice figure, still. She was basically being complimentary to you, and also beng a litttle envious at the same time!

Also, she envies the fact that yu've lost so much weight, and she should be envious!

It's impossible to tell without pictures.

Curvy and fat aren't related.

You can be skinny and curvy. You can be fat and not curvy.

Curvy is about your bone structure more so than how much fat you have.

So, as to whether or not she was complimenting you or not, I can't answer that, for I am a straight male and have no idea what those dimensions that you mentioned mean lol

Lol slightly soft, but you do have some natural curves to you. You have nice hips, which allows you to carry a tad extra weight and still make it look good.

So, in that respect, I'll say that your friend was complimenting you.

Your proportions are quite fine. You're definitely a curvy woman so the compliments are sincere.
