This guy and I have become really close friends over the past few months, and we went on a date a few nights ago. When we were about to get in our cars, he hugged me for a really long time and kissed the top of my head. I'm one of those people who doesn't take affection well, and it feels fake to me in a way, but I know that he loves me and I care about him a lot. I'm just wondering what this type of kiss expresses?

On the other hand, we went shopping and a few of the times he walked past me, he would touch my arm or put his hand on my back.
Is he just sexually attracted to me, or is it an instinual type of thing?

To me a kiss on the head is purely out of the fact he cares about you. A kiss on the head can come from a friend, parent or lover. It isn’t necessarily sexual, there’s no pleasure in it, it is a symbol of “I care about you”
Maybe he is sexually attracted to you if you continue to go on dates together but we can’t tell you that, you’d need to ask him yourself

Yep what the girls said already. Chances are he might have feelings for you but he too shy to express them towards you. The kiss itself is a genuine, "I care about you.". I myself do it often to females i care about, to males is more of bro hugs and hanging out with coffee.
