Why would a guy get tongue-tied while talking to a girl?

I've talked to my crush like 2 times, once over the phone and once in person and I've noticed that he always gets tongue-tied whenever we talk. Like he says a few words and sentences and then goes silent. He also doesn't follow up on the conversation and there are awkward silences. When we talked in person he was also blushing.

Do I make him that uncomfortable? Is he not interested in talking to me? He's a very talkative guy otherwise and can't shut up.

These nerves are caused by a lot of baggage, obviously

Yes he likes you, yes he's shy, and I saw this interesting video. When guys talk to girls they like/ find attractive, blood leaves the more developed/ frontal part of the brain and pools more in the back/ primal Part of the brain. So if they seem to get stupid/silly/tonge-tied, it's because they phisically are. :)

Be open, be encouraging and he'll settle down.

Definitely the is not used to girls. You may have to take your time to make him feel comfortable as a friend first. Then things will go on.
