What does it mean when a guy shows off his muscles and strength with you?

I text everyday with the guy I like.
Today he sent me a few fotos of his (muscular) arms. He also often tells me about what he is doing at the gym, to show off his strength.
What does it mean? Is he trying to impress me?

there's a dude in the past that always wanted to get my attention at gym, although he has the physique but his form and techniques are terrible and his body odor is terrible, smells like ammonia and urine and it's intensely strong that you can smell it even though he's like 20 feet away. he would purposely walk in front of me during my set, stands in front of me and starts flexing, to try to force me to look at his physique. and i'm dying from suffocation from holding my breath in because he smells so bad.

last time i encountered him at gym, i was at the machines section doing kickbacks, put all his stuff down on the hip abductor and adductor machine next to me, stood in front of me and started doing ass to grass body weight squats in front of me, and i'm looking around cause like wtf is this guy doing? it was so awkward. turns out the guy is gay and i'm his gym crush, i told him sorry but i'm 100% straight, and he has left me alone since then.
