How can you tell if a guy likes you over text?

I've never really relied solely on texting I usually see the person face to face quite a lot but this time I have to text them. But how am i meant to know if a shy guy likes me over text?

I give the benefit of the doubt, some people are just not texters and or have other things to do, so don't think about how long it take to reply only the content of the messages. Do they only answer questions or do they ask any? Do they start conversation chains or again only reply. Do they drop hints, ask if you miss them, what you are doing on a certain day, talk about being single/lonely in a negative way, etc.

I think you can get a good idea, but at least me, I will try never to give anything serious up over text, because I want to tell her how I feel in person.
