What has just happened and what do I do, I’m scared?

Less than an hour ago four white British men came running into my shop three of those four were after one man and there was a scuffle and my flower bed and some pots got damaged before two of those men dragged the one man they were after out of my shop, one of the men stayed behind and was extremely apologetic and gave me £3000 to pay for the damages he said (the damage was less than £100) and he asked if he could access the CCTV and I was scared so I let him access it and he deleted the footage. I’m shook and don’t know who these men were or what was going on but I’m worried they are going to be back. I had to close my shop early and I’m worried that I will get in trouble if I don’t inform the police but I have no evidence of what happened. I’m so shook, I don’t understand what any of this was about and who they thuggish men were, can someone please try and explain what has happened so I can calm down as I’m new to this country and don’t understand how things work?

What if they come back though plus the man who gave me money was so polite, well dressed but also intimidating

They were probably collecting a debt from the guy that was running. It might be a gambling or drug related debt or protection money from a local shop owner. Typical organized crime behavior.

They weren’t after you… Obviously they tried to pay you off to keep the cops out of it. No one just hands some random person 3 grand in cash for a couple of broken pots and asks to wipe your security camera video records. They were kidnapping the guy to either take him somewhere to ruff him up, extort/rob him, or to kill him and they wanted you to turn a blind eye to what they were doing. So if you turn a blind eye they have no reason to do anything to do. That said, they are violent criminals obviously, so they probably aren’t too found of people that witness crimes and make police reports...

That said, a guy did get kidnapped and something bad happened to him… So I don’t know how you feel about that morally... Different people have different principles...

They were dressed to smart to be in a gang, not like the gangs in my country who were loose fitting clothes and covered in tattoos. These men were wearing black leather shoes, neatly ironed trousers, long sleeve shirts and belts with big buckles, they also had lots of jewellery on.

No I’m not a criminal, in Colombia I stayed away from those types.

Why were they fighting and how did they have so much money?

I have no idea, but their might be other businesses nearby who had CCTV, so that's why you should call the police.
