He probably just wanted an opinion other than his mom's. I hope you were honest. I once dated for a very short time a woman who wore the worst perfumes. Horrible stinky heavy chemical nightmares. I was probably too honest when she asked me about her perfume because she got all angry. You could neutralize an army with what she was wearing!

If he would have leaned in or asked you to smell it om him. Then I might say there is an interest (relationship)
But in this case he just might want a womens opinion, or second opinion. 😉

I have no idea to be perfectly honest. But, if he ever hands you a cloth and says "Does this smell like chloroform to you?" just run. Run fast and run far.
