Why is he being hot and cold? Help?

So this guy and I have been friends for like a year now. And I have already told him that I liked him once, and he was really nice to me. As of recently he has been calling me often (we talk fir hours) and he would reply to my texts almost immediately. But the past few days he has been acting kind of cold. He goes offline as soon I come online or text him, and he replies to my messages after a while.
Why is he acting so cold? What should I do?

He doesn't know what he wants. Best thing is give him space. If he does care, he'll be back. If not, you're better off. Being with someone who doesn't know what he wants, will ruin your self esteem and leave you feeling worthless. Been there, done that. No fun.
