How can a boyfriend go from sweet to rage too fast?

Anonymous
We've been dating for 7 months now and I'm noticing something strange. I don't know if this is even normal.

Our last argument was over not pouring 1 whole lemon into my tea. I only poured 1/2 of the lemon and saved the other 1/2 for later. He made a big deal out of it, gave me the cold shoulders, said he'll start talking to me when I finally listen to him and even threatened to break-up. Then he started talking about how he does everything for me, putting too many I, I, I in his sentences, talking about just himself.

Just minutes before that happened he was romantic and sweet, claiming I was the love of his life, how I'm different from other girls, how he dreams about having kids with me next year, etc.

This is the 3rd time he has suddenly changed his mood so drastically in the same day. He turned a normal, happy day into a nightmare. He went from ''you're the love of my life'' and all sweet to ''I'll break up, how dare you do this'' like a Dr Hyde thing. Is this even normal?

It's like he exaggerates things. I feel like the argument he created just over pouring 1/2 of a lemon is too much and isn't normal. I feel there shouldn't have even been any argument (without a real valid reason) on a normal, peaceful day.
