Why are men attracted to slow texters?

Time and time again I’ve noticed that men appear to be attracted when I reply slow (around 2-8 hours after they send the text). When I do this they always reply like 1-2 min later. However if I’m the one to text back in 1-2 min, they’re the ones that take 2-8 hours to reply.
I’ve even tried this out on a guy that would take forever to reply and wouldn’t hit me up first. I started taking 2-8 hours to reply, now he hits me up. When I go back to texting in a few minutes, he slowly goes back to replying later and later.
I feel like I’ve discovered some secret, but why is it that some men seem to appreciate slow replies more?

Maybe it's an age thing, but I know what I've observed. I downloaded a dating app to test this out. I wrote down around how many hours/minutes I'd reply to each guy with. Surely enough the guys on the early end of the stick ended up replying less or straight up ghosting. The guys in the 2-8 hour range, in increasing order showed more interest and replied more. However guys in the 8+ hour range either got mad/upset with me or ghosted.

But yeah I was wondering that, if this is the case now what happens when they do turn into something more serious - relationship, marriage etc. I think it might be in the initial stages, before they are dating and until they are both busy an average reply time is respectable. I don't know. But I don’t think any guy would want a woman always texts back seconds after they text

Well... the sample size isn't that big. But I know it can't be coincidence because I've found it to be true my entire life. I guess thats why they say play hard to get. It's stupid but for some reason there are some odd balls out there that take one step closer for every pull away.

The thing that upsets me though is when I start texting back fast he replies later and later. So I don't know, but if you really wanted me to "leave him alone" the right action would actually be texting back fast until he ghosts me, not ghost him, that only seems to hurt them

I once dated a girl for two years that was pretending to be a nice girl. She was nice to me and a total bitch to everyone else. Her step mom baked her a personal cake for her birthday and she said it was trash and didn’t eat it in front of her. Later on she started being a total bitch to me. This is who she was all along and she was only pretending to be a nice girl to me but she was actually a mean girl. She is now dating a guy that I know will be a living hell for him because he isn’t that attractive so he doesn’t have a lot of options. He will have to put up with her or be single forever alone. Poor guy.

It was 65F outside and she had the car heater on full blast. I couldn’t even breathe and she didn’t even let me open my window.
We were eating at some chicken place and she was on her phone ignoring me.
I bought her an expensive iron set for her hair and she complained about the color of it and said it was the wrong color and she only liked pink. It was a black set.
She threw away my nicest dress shirt and said I looked too cute in it for other girls to see. When I got it out of trash, she cut it with scissors

I have never cared about how long it takes for her to respond. If she doesn't respond for awhile, I just assume she's busy and end up getting distracted by video games or something. It's not a big deal.

It's the other way around. The less interest she shows, the faster I move on to someone who's actually compatible. Anyone actually caring about texting time habits is a deal breaker to me, I can't stand fake girls who have no personality
