Is it normal for a guy to compliment a female coworker when he already has a wife and 3 kids?

I’m posting on behalf of a friend. Her coworker has recently been complimenting her a lot, keep in mind he has a girlfriend & kids. These are some of the things he’s been saying to her:

“you have a beautiful smile”
“you have beautiful eyes”
”you looked really hot in that outfit the other day”
“ you look so hot when you wear glasses”
”I got mad when you wore a big hoodie, because I wasn’t able to see your ass”

he will also try to make her laugh just so he can see her beautiful smile, he has literally told her this.

When she tells him that she’s not comfortable with him complimenting her because he has a girlfriend, he’ll just say things like “It’s just a compliment, I’m just being nice, why do you have to bring my girlfriend into this? Im just trying to boost morale, so it’s a more enjoyable work environment” even though my friend gets along with her other coworkers just fine.

Do you think this behavior is ok with a girlfriend? Do you think this is cheating?

Those compliments are a huge red flag and no-go.

This woman should take the harassment seriously and talk with HR about being sexually harassed by her co-worker. This is not something that anyone should tolerate.

Compliments are a topic that is taboo at the workplace because in 99% of the time, those compliments are meant sexually and not because the co-worker did a good performance or a good job. Those sexual compliments always are related to looks and the way a person is dressed but about her work quality.

She should tell the guy to stop harassing her sexually otherwise she will take it directly to the HR department and if this step does not bring any results, she should go straigth to upper management.

She should also bring some kind of proof that she is being harassed. She could tape the conversation or take video clips to confront the co-worker.

In no case should she let him unpunished.

The only time I feel the need to constantly give a girl compliments is because I have feelings for her. He might not realise it though. Still not a good look for the guy.
