Why don't guys follow back?

I started using instagram a few months ago and more recently started following more people like classmates. I noticed that almost all the girls I followed also followed me back but all the guys either don't follow back or just leave it at requested, even though pretty much everyone use instagram frequently at my school. Im not trying to be obsessed over followers and social media, I'm just genuinely curious.

On Instagram the only things we follow are really just Women, Sports, and maybe workout stuff. That’s pretty much the only things that guys follow.

from some of the guys that let me follow I can see that they follow a lot of people at my school so I I don't know...

Trust me it doesn’t really matter I don’t keep up with any guys from my old highschool anymore
