Should I shoot my shot?

I had this boss that showed signs that he was attracted to me/liked me but never got too close as he was my supervisor. He then got promoted to manager so now there was definitely no way he was making a move. Late one night I got two social media requests on different platforms from him. Though accepted he never spoke on them or liked anything I posted. He also didn’t have anyone else from work on his socials.

Either way I am leaving this company totally to pursue a different career. He doesn’t know this as of yet. When I inform him of my career change should I shoot my shot, give him my number and indicate that I’d love to get to know him better now that I am not working with him anymore?

If you were him would you take me up on that and get in touch now that the company would be out of the way?

Depends on what “shooting your shot” means. If you want to set precedent and be the one calling the shots, it’s you who should ask him for his number. If you want him to ask for yours, all you can do is let him know you’re leaving and somehow hint that you’ll miss his company and hope he makes a move. You may only have one shot, so make it count. For the most part I’d just like to keep in touch with him. He was always quite the introverted person so I figure if I am going to reach out to him when I’m out that I would have to come out of my comfotzone and give him my number.

I wouldn’t advise anybody give anyone a number unless asked. If you want to be the masculine one, you gotta be the one to ask for his. And he’s got to be the feminine one and give some kind of sign that he wants you to ask once you tell him you’re leaving. Or flip the roles. Up to you to know who you are. Two masculine people or two feminine people or a single narcissist in a relationship usually end up fighting a lot.

It doesn’t have to be deep, it’s polite. I would be irritated being given a number I didn’t ask for.
