Why would he cry about another guy flirting with me when he already cheated?

One of my boyfriends (now ex ) friends tried hitting on me a few times during our relationship. I turned him down each time. It was only three times he tried within two months. I told my boyfriend about it but he wouldn't believe me and actually thought we were flirting. He tried hitting on me a third time but this time i had a full conversation with him. Two reasons, i felt like my boyfriend was cheating on me because he was being full on distant for no reason and 2 i didn't understand how this friend would all of a sudden start flirting with me after whole time knowing me this whole time (8 months). I even asked my boyfriend why he was being distant and he blamed his friend. Anyway, I didn't get an answer but his friend was just being a snake and basically told me not to tell my boyfriend that we talked. When i showed my boyfriend our conversation, he started crying but it wasn't until the part of the messages when he told me me not to tell my boyfriend. Then a few days later i found out my boyfriend was seeing and having sex with another girl the whole entire time. I don't know who or when it started but he refuses to tell me.
