A guy gives you his last piece of food?

There's a guy I know, and we're friendly but I wouldn't say we're friends. But the other day he offered me a piece of his food, I never implied to him that I wanted any, it was very much out of the blue. Today, he had that same food and before he even had any himself he gave me a few pieces of it this time, I said thank you. Then, at the very end, he gave me his last piece. I tried to reason with him but he was insistent I had it.
