Why do guys keep staring at me while at the gym?

so i go to the gym to workout and recently i have noticed that guys keep staring at me while at the gym and at first i thought it was just me overthinking, but a few days ago i went to the gym and i was using some heavy equipment and this guy used another piece of equipment that was oppisite me and he kept staring at me when he took breaks to drink water and i noticed that he was staring at me and i stared back and he gave me a little smile and returned to the equipment and one time he sat there and was staring at me using the equipment. i didn't think anything of it at first till he left and used another peice of equipment. why did he keep staring at me? does he find me attractive or something?
