Should I believe that he's actually sick?

The guy that im seeing reached out on Thursday wanting to see me after work and I agreed... he calls me when I get off work saying that tomorrow night would work better to reschedule if I free... I agree and say no worries, we plan a time etc... everything's good to go. Friday comes I text him after work asking If he's home and replies saying he's feeling sick today and may have a fever... I tell him to get well soon and that's that... should I believe that he's sick? Or blowing me off?
