Is he rejecting me or is he oblivious?

I befriended my crush and we get along. We know each other for about a week and I can make him laugh. He is very busy with work, teaching, and school projects. I asked him if he was free last Thursday and he gave a day but I reminded him he had something to do that day. He then remembered he had all these other preplanned events he needed to do. He then says he’ll let me know when he is free. I just asked if he wanted to get something to eat and didn’t say I liked him or said it was a date.

it had been four days since he said that and something is making me skeptical.

he doesn’t act awkward around me and treats me like a friend. But today, him and his other guy friends started talking about girls and being jealous of their other friend who has a girlfriend and jokingly asking why they’re single while I’m sitting there. I’m sitting there thinking if he just sees me as friend and is too afraid to say outright he doesn’t like me or if he truly thinks I’m being friendly and doesn’t think I like him since I didn’t say it. I would think asking him to eat would be signs enough.

Which one is it? Friendzone rejection or oblivious?

Since you didn't risk rejection he also hasn't rejected you.

Him agreeing to getting something to eat wouldn't have meant that he is interested either.

Be a bit more straightforward and ask him to do with you something that involves just the two of you like say badminton and see how it goes from there or just write him a love letter or something.
