Why does my ex always try to get closer to me after his break ups?

He sometimes contact me even though it's been six months after our break up. I don't mind he sometimes text me and wants to be friend but everytime when he broke up with his new girlfriend (he had already 2) he's trying to get closer. Like he contacts me almost everyday, how he still misses me and like me, if i don't wanna visit him to his city that he feels lonely there. (He moved there recently) ... He doesn't want to get back together but he's acting like he still loves me.

It sounds like he's keeping you exactly where he wants you. You're not good enough to be his girlfriend, but you're good enough to keep around any time he needs emotional support, guidance, etc. bec he knows how you feel about him and that you're always there.
You've become his comfort blanket and anytime something goes wrong with someone else, he comes back to you for an ego boost, knowing he has a person waiting on the other side whom he can get whatever he needs from.
Id cut contact completely. He's already dating, but keeping in touch with you like this is not only benefiting him, but it's also preventing you from moving on. That's what he wants to do.

don't play into his games like this no more comforting him or being there when he is down. Focus on YOU.
