But if he's who you like, and you can put up with his childish mind until he matures, then stick with him. Otherwise, dump him asap - and while you're dumping him, you might want to tell him how much of a douche he sounds like when he compares his fragile ego with that of your ex.

He wants to go out with you, so he's trying to figure out if he has a chance with you. The fact that you broke up with your ex who is similar to him may make him self-conscious that you don't want to go out with a guy similar to him again.

He is very jealous of him. He also might think that he is the gold standard that you are looking for in a boyfriend. You are going to tell him that were things you like about your ex but he is your ex because of these reasons. So, please stop comparing yourself to him. It's annoying.
Because he wants to know how successful your ex was in the relationship, guys always see themselves as rivals when it comes to women so he´s probably trying to figure out his chances with you.
He wants to assimilate himself with your boyfriend. He thinks the more he is like your ex, the more you will like him. I know who you are LOL
I used to be like that with my ex, he is definitely jealous and he should be.
