Why would a guy ask you out after you both go your separate ways?

I met this guy on an dating app a few months ago. We exchanged numbers and added each other on Instagram. After talking for a while we both realized we wanted very different things in a relationship. We decided to mutually go our separate ways. I deleted his number and just moved on from that connection.

Just the other day I get a DM from on Instagram asking how I'm doing and what I've been up to. I reply like I normally would. After chatting for a few minutes to catch up he asks me out on a date. I told him I was confused because we both agreed we wanted different things and it won't work. He said "I don't burn bridges easily."

That reply gives me a player vibe. I don't know what to think. I moved on and don't care to go out with this guy. Why would he be back?
