Is a narcissist/Manipulator aware of what they are doing?

My ex is a narcissist and I wonder If he was aware of the way he was treating me.. I was seeing him for 3 years, from summer 2019 up until April of 2022. He was in prison from March 2020 to June 2021. He acted way differently when he was in there then once he got out, he switched up on me and then began to gaslight me and tell me that we were always just friends lol. Is he aware that he used me, manipulated me, lied to me, and lead me on? He has had 6 girlfriends since being out and each one has contacted me saying he's a narcissist. He’s onto his 7th now.. he completely dumped me for all these different women.

It depends on the extent of their disorder. Some are aware that their behaviour is bad and damaging to other people while some are not. A lot of narcissists are not aware of their doings because in their minds they are never wrong or guilty. Those who are aware, don’t really care how their actions affect other people because narcissists don’t care about themselves and their needs. They lack empathy.

People like your ex are mentally ill and curse to our society, they do not care about anybody's emotions or feelings and get pleasure by hurting others be it mentally, emotionally and physically, its due to people like him people dont anybody easily
