Guy's Behavior

He shows signs of liking me, I, along with everyone thinks he likes me but then he confesses to another girl?

I liked him since I first saw him so I'll try my best to state the situation in a neutral point of view.

He started initiating conversations with me, after asking about me through his friends ( he and I have a mutual friend that stated he was shy to ask me things).

Whenever we talked he'd always ask questions about me while I answered, I never showed interest because I feared he was up to something (like using me as a distraction) since he's a man and he's talking to me out of nowhere.

There came a point where everyone (I, my friends, his friend and people I'm not even close to) assumed he liked me.

Whenever he would show signs of interest when noone was around, it felt genuine and he'd get nervous, but when an audience was near, it will always feel staged, he'd get this confidence out of nowhere.

Then he just confesses to a girl that he's liked her all along. This same girl also thought he liked me. Once she stated it though, he only acknowledged her opinion but neither confirmed nor deny it (I might be overthinking this one, he must've been drunk in love with her to respond).

Keep in mind the other reason why I had my walls up when he talked to me was I had the suspicion from the start that he has liked the girl.
