One time my friends younger brother tried to convince me he had a rare illness and only had 3 months to live, and so I should help make his last moments count. I used to babysit this kid! He was about 22 at the time of the lie. I never met up with him, but I caught him by sending my thoughts to my friend and she was like wtf nothing wrong with him but him being a loser lol.
Also similarly, about a year and a half ago, I had an old friend fake his own suicide in order to punish me for “friend zoning him” 16 years ago. He went on fb messenger pretending to be his dad and “broke the news” to me. This guy was already losing it so I thought something might be fishy. I demanded he call me as I may have been the last person to talk to him but he refused and right then I knew it was fake. I screen shotted recent activity on a public page and told him if he wanted to be dead to me then I can make that happen. He needed a good psychiatrist but refused to get help so I had to cut him off after that stunt.

Off the top of my head, one guy said he was admitted to Harvard, though later I learned he went to Virginia Tech. One guy said he was best friends with Ed Sheeran. I assume that was a lie I did not actually investigate or see proof one way or the other. One guy said he was going to be a starter for a major college basketball team, he really was on the team but he never played. Some guys also offered to buy me things or take me on trips that I am pretty sure they could not afford and had no real intention of doing but to me that is a little different, like not really meant to be taken literally.
It was a guy on here years ago. He claimed that he new me offline and was my friend. Refused to give his name, and failed our password.
