I’ve been friends with this guy for years after meeting at university and we lost touch for a while after he moved away. We reconnected recently and after a few weeks of chatting he finally tells me he’s married now, he isn’t as chatty as he was and it’s a bit awkward now given I told him I liked him a few years ago.
He didn’t feel the same but acted as if he did.
Now he says he’s happy to be friends, wanted to know if I’m seeing anyone and when I told him I’d broken up with my ex he made a point of saying he didn’t think he was the right guy for me.
I’m just wondering (and yes I know men and women can be just friends) BUT guys- if you were married would you still want women as friends- why/why not?

No way. There is not reason to have a female friend if I'm married. Tons of risk for very little reward.
Hmm interesting…so it’s not very common?
I'm sure it is for some people, just not me.
I maintain my friendships regardless of my relationship status, and many of those friendships are with women. If your truly friends, and not creepily going for something more, then being married shouldn't affect your status as friends
No, it's disrespectful to your marriage.
Because your wife is your friend isn’t she- or best friend? I don’t know why this guy would want to be friends with me when he has a wife
