My girl friends told me if a guy is nervous/shy around girls it means he is attracted to them but also not a player so he feels more genuine.

Some guys who start nervous but gain confidence, turn into players, and some gain confidence, but remains forever appreciative towards the girl for them, and that helped them through that.
