Do you think it is acceptable for schools to require boys to play shirts vs skins in gym class?

Nope. Schools generally have dress codes. They all require you wear a shirt to school so it would seem it's in direct violation of their own school rules. P. E. classes always have uniforms that kids are required to wear. If they don't wear their uniform they are docked points toward their grade for not showing up dressed in their uniforms. So to mandate they break the rules set by the curriculum of the course just to play basketball sound illogical. It's lax application of the rules and sets a bad example for what is expected of students.
This never happened at my school they had other ways like pick the teams based on colors of shirts or in school they used to have things over your shirt another shirt or a cloth belt kind of thing to tell teams apart. I used to play beach volleyball without a shirt though. I think it's probably not ok to force people to do this but if nobody complains then it's not a big deal I guess
No reason for this anymore... there are tie on vests that are cheap and affordable to use to tell team mates apart
I'd even be fine with shirts vs skins as long as I can keep my sports bra on !!!
@CindyRuns That is not the same. For it to be fair and equal girls would have to be totally bare skin on top.
@CindyRuns In shirts vs skins for guys: even if the guy has small girl like breasts and is embarrassed about about being shirtless he is not exempt from it. The teacher might even intentionally put him on the shirtless team because he thinks that it is cute to do so.

If a dude doesn’t want to remove his shirt just out of modesty, I think that’s fine and no-one should be requiring him to play shirtless.
That makes sense. I don't think they got much of a choice in our high school which tbh we probably enjoyed more than they did
I've never experienced it, and I would feel uncomfortable. In my country, when playing in teams in gym classes, we use coloured ribbons which you can wear over your clothing, so you can distinguish the teams. No need to take off shirts.
Perfectly acceptable. It's an easy well to tell the two teams apart.
Even though some boys might be uncomfortable about it?
There are many things a person might feel uncomfortable about... learn to deal with it.
How would those same boys deal with the group shower at the end of gym class?
@AviatorTom When I was in high school group showers were the normal thing for guys and you didn't have a choice. Was that also the case for the girls or did they have private showers?
Fair enough I suppose it is a way to force the guys to build confidence
@asker I feel more uncomfortable wearing a shirt that gets wet with sweat and is irritating. I'd rather be on "skins" just for that reason alone.
I think it's really easy to differentiate between players by using some other method, that way those people who don't feel comfortable going shirtless don't have to make a choice.
I would say yes it’s fine. Some guys might be a bit shy but it’s part of being a guy so it will help them build their confidence.
I think it’s funny that just over half of guys but almost three quarters of girls support shirts v skins haha
When trying out for high school basketball, the kids that were too embarrassed just played on the shirts side. Not a big deal. I was shy about it at first but after getting compiments from girls who watched on the bleachers I got over it.
The real issue here is bullies. Yes shirts vs skins and group showers can be mandatory. And if any idiot mocks a person for how they look that bully should be suspended for a week and banned from pe and all sports. The supremacy of idiot jock bullies must come to an end it has been tolerated far too long. Every Body is different and is ok. In fact both teams should be shirtless, each team can have its own color socks.
Do high school gym classes still include team sports? The students would have vastly wide-ranging skill levels, and a lot of people hate playing team sports.
I would totally not be okay with this.
I never take my shirt off even in something like a beach or pool.
Thankfully I didn't go to one of these schools.
Absolutely! Nothing wrong with it! They've been doing it for eons!! I just never see them do that with girls.
Then someone asks the same thing for girls and they get false charges and the electric chair mock 11 L + ratio + double decker woke agenda - hashtag witch hunt.
It’s much more comfortable. The person defending you might not want to get his or her hands and elbows all up on your sweaty back but isn’t that a good offensive strategy? Plus, Google Notre Dame bellybutton defense.
Just have reversible shirts, one side one color the other side a different color.
they would play like this bacm in hs
Yeah same. We used to like seeing them if we were sharing the gym lol
Men don't have breast so... what are we talking about here
It would feel weird. They haven’t done this in a long time.
It's just to shame the fat kid into losing weight.
we had colored things to wear..
Requi- bro, your coach was gay.
I always thought it was weird lol
No big deal
So you don't think it's a problem even if some guys are shy or find it embarrassing?
