Why some guys don't ask questions that reveal that they remember things you previously talked about together as good conversation topics?

Do they like to act as though they are as unattached as air or something? I always ask guys questions that show that I heard what they said the last time we interacted, like specific questions about their hobbies that they mentioned the last time we talked a few days ago. But these guys, on the other hand, prefer to just talk as though they never met you before, even though you've been friends for at least a year. To keep the conversation going, they say stuff that reveals very little about themselves, or that shows that they remember very little about what you previously told them about yourself. Why do they do this?
