I’m a university student, and I recently started attending a new college after I moved. I met this guy there who I’ve now known for around 2 semesters, and he’s confused me to no end.
Now I want to preface, I’ve already made up my mind that I’m not interested. I’m not looking for any particular advice on what to do about him or how to handle the situation. I’m more looking for just thoughts on why he’s being the way he is?
Anyway, I met him my first semester, I was sitting around campus and he approached me out of nowhere, and he kinda slyly introduced himself, then left. We ended being friends on social media, and a month after he invited me out with him. It was phrased in a very casual way that made me think it was a group outing and very much NOT a date. I agreed and went, and it turned out there was no group. We saw a movie and he walked me back to my dorm. At this point I was thinking, wow okay maybe he does like me?
Fast forward, over a couple months I try and text him, start conversation, invite him places, and it doesn’t really go anywhere. He happens to run into me basically any other time I’m talking to a guy friend which seems to make things more awkward.
Skip to the next semester, I end up getting put on a blind date, and lucky me- he’s my blind date. It becomes very apparent he had no clue, because he seems like a nervous wreck and he keeps apologizing. We got dinner and talked for a while and then parted ways.
He texts me randomly and will ask how I’m doing but the conversation almost never goes deeper than that. I’m usually the one carrying conversation.
After talking with several people, I’m fairly certain he’d had a crush on me and just doesn’t know how to handle it? He’s a couple years younger than me, and is very well known for being outgoing at my college. He’s friends with everybody, and has no issues talking to women (yet is virtually silent with me). I don’t understand, I don’t think I’m a very intimidating person? Thoughts?
