In short, i met this guy about a year and a half ago through mutual friends. We have never been out on a proper date. Back last year we would see each other pretty consistently at parties and clubbing and kissing occasionally.
We ended up seeing each other overseas and had sex. After that things remained pretty much the same. He would pop up every few weeks to "check in" or to chat because he "missed me".
We both went overseas recently and were crossing over in greece at the end of my trip. during my whole trip he was messaging me everyday, telling me when i got there we'd have so many plans (with our groups). When i got there i met him at a club with my friends and i saw him for the first time and he was with two girls (which i later found out he tried to hook up with them both), he took his time saying hello to me and the hello was brief. He approached me properly maybe an hour and a half into the night, and tried to kiss me but naturally i was just cut at the lack of attention considering he had been hyping it up the last few weeks making me feel special and whatever so i just rejected the kiss. The next few nights he kept trying to invite me out but i was just cut at what went down on the first night so i didn't go to see him.
i just dont know what his intentions have been this whole time, why did he keep me around? clearly wasn't for friends with benefits. i just dont get why he gives me attention then pulls back then comes back like nothing happened.

Because in those few months between trips we would just be messaging but not meeting up for anything. I found it weird he would just want to message and get nothing out of it?

thats the weird part. we would see each other at parties, clubs etc but when it came to actual meeting up he was all talk.
