Why is this boy loyal to this girl and hard to intimidate?

Hello! I am a 17 year old boy who is currently attending highschool.

Currently, an eccentric introvert is my highschool classmate. He is also a martial artist. Why is he loyal to the weird theater girl and not to the popular kids despite the popular kids being popular? He is defiant towards the popular kids when it comes to protecting her.

This eccentric introvert listens to the weird theater girl but is rude to the popular kids when they try to make him do something.

Against the popular kids, he isn't invincible because a gang of male student athlete popular kids beat him up when he fought them but he seems indomitable towards the popular kids in that the popular kids such as the athlete kids, the cheerleaders, etc. can't seem to make him submissive to them or intimidate him.

Number one he's loyal to only himself which makes him loyal to whoever he wants to be loyal to

It's because he knows who he is
It's because he's not a follower he's a leader of himself he believes in himself whatever reason he has for doing what he's doing it's nobody's business

There should be more people like him
Don't be mad because he has a life and is happy

What's so great about being a popular kid nothing but trouble heartache and bull crap. he's happy he's content right where he's at.

And if he is a true friend you should be trying to protect him not get him to do what you want him to do you should respect him you should maybe learn from him it's not all about being a follower and being a part of the popular group it's one of the worst things in the world you can do really

I was that kid I was a popular kid with popular people with the jocks with the burnouts with the cowboys with my friends

It didn't mean anything to me what meant something to me is I did not follow I love my own life the jocks wanted me to play sports and football I would rather go home and ride my dirt bike look there's a time and a place for everything he's happy let him be happy don't try to change him he will change if he wants to change

Why do you even care? How does him being with the theater girl affect you at all? Just leave them alone and stop trying to push your childish high-school bullshit on them.

He may be an introvert but that doesn't mean he can't be protective by nature. I would assume that he likes this girl and that is why he does it. Either that or maybe she gets picked on or bullied and he can relate so he stands up for her when she can't. Those are the two reasons that would make a lot of sense to me. I think he is just watching over her because he maybe went through similar things in his life. It also could be that he has a thing for this girl... or both.
