Why would a guy say "block me" while he can do it?

Yes, the question is this. I'm in a weird situationship. Yesterday, we argued about something, and he said, "Just block me."
And I said, "You can do it yourself," and he didn't reply. I woke up and shared a story of my cat and saw that he watched my story because I thought he blocked me, but he didn't. What does it mean, guys?
My female friend said, "Because he can't let you go," but i don't think so.

(And today we had a coffee date if we didn't argue 😬)
