Why players keep coming back to see if you still like them?

I used to have a massive crush on a guy and he knew it but unfortunately he played with my feelings and him and his friends made fun of me... after years of not seeing him one day I ran into him and once he saw me he started smiling and tried to get a reaction out of me by walking slowly infront of me... it seemed like he was hoping to see if I will turn my head to see him walking away. I just don't understand why he keeps coming back to see if I am still interested
