Why would a guy talk about the future together when you aren’t together?

Guy I’m friends with who has always liked me a bit - describes me as rare and one of a kind - not together as we don’t live near each other etc but got drunk and called mr at the weekend and was asking my thoughts on his parents coming to meet me and us spending time together with our family - he even said ‘in the future maybe we could even do a Christmas all together’ what do you think?
he was quite drunk …

Well you know that's the stuff which a guy would say to any lady he likes or is fond of. None of what you described necessarily means he 'seriously' thinks of your future together unless he has a serious discussion about it.
