What does it mean when your boyfriend says I'll be in touch?

So I'm in a new relationship with this amazing guy but we had some issues on a couples get away and he went to Hamilton and left me. We had plans set for new year's eve and then I don't hear from him and don't know he is back until I show up at his work with my friend for a drink. He gets let off work early and leaves without even saying goodbye or nothing. I tried calling multiple times but he didn't pick up at all and then he texts me I'll be in touch happy new year. Then tells me he is at a BBQ and that he'll text me tomorrow. Like wtf? I'm so lost and broken and I don't understand what happened and why?

We went together with his brother and his bros girlfriend to rotarua a place in NZ. His brother then last minute said they all going up to Hamilton another place in NZ and my boyfriend said that he would only go if I'm going to but since I had work the next day he decided he wouldn't go but didn't tell his brother and then when we were going to head home his brother had a huge go at me saying I was controlling my boyfriend which isn't true. And that my boyfriend was going to Hamilton anyway. I told my boyfriend that I felt his bro was pressuring him into this. Yes our relationship is very clearly defined.

Well I thought we are because nothing has been confirmed about a breakup or anything but now I don't know

No I don't feel that. All relationships have little things and that is considered healthy. But I don't know what's going on here. If he doesn't tell me and I break up with him than that doesn't make sense to me

I'm his first girlfriend in a few years and he puts his family above everyone. His twin brother is like his bestest friend so yea.. I don't know

Well you seem to want to make excuses for him. You are teaching him that what he did was okay and you will accept it.
