Hmm that is kinda weird that he couldn't make eye contact if he wasn't feeling you. Usually guys will look you right in the eyes when they're interested.

A few possibilities I can think of:

- He might get nervous around any girl, even if he's not that into her. Some dudes just suck at making eye contact.

- Maybe he felt bad cause deep down he knew he wasn't really feeling it but didn't want to hurt your feelings by saying so. Easier to blame "wanting different things."

- It's possible he wasn't super attracted at first but wanted to give you a real chance. Then decided after the date you weren't compatible.

- He could be shy in general, even if he's not that into the girl. Some guys just clam up.

Who knows, people are weird. I wouldn't read too much into the eye contact thing alone. If he said he wasn't feeling a connection, take him at his word. It is awkward when that happens but better to know now than waste your time, you know? Try not to overthink it - on to the next one! His loss anyway.

When it comes to dates, all you can really do is read their actions - did they seem engaged with you, ask you questions, laugh at your jokes, try to find things in common etc. Eye contact alone don't mean much if the convo didn't flow both ways.

Don't take it personal if it doesn't work out either - sometimes people just don't feel that spark for whatever reason, even if they think you seem like a sweet girl. As long as they're respectful about it.

Dating is full of rejection and disappointment. It sucks, but it has nothing to do with how awesome you are. There could be a million reasons why things didn't work out that have nothing to do with you. Sometimes people just aren't a good match, even if you both seem cool at first.

Don't let a few lame dates make you think you're not good enough. Own who you are - you probably bring way more to the table than some guys who can't even commit to a second date!
