I am the only female at a male workplace. I began my position 2 weeks ago. The following the past 2 weeks with my lead boss:
1.) I met his young children and his father.
2.) He sat down to have a conversation with me and started the conversation with “entertain me.”
3.) Maintained eye contact through one on one conversations.
4.) He leans back in his chair, hands behind his head, in a relaxed, open position.
5.) Often takes off his hat or adjusts his hat when speaking to me.
6.) Mentioned his wife wants to bring me lunch.
7.) asked me what my guilty pleasure is and remembered 2 weeks later, stating he will bring me my guilty pleasure (caramel macchiato).
8.) Frequently talks to me about his children.
9.) Told me he cannot wait until I am in my new office and away from all that damn paperwork.
10.) Tells me if I need anything to call him, work titles aside.
11.) Gives me a side hug every time I see him at the office (once he gave me two hugs during one such meeting).
12.) Speaks loudly if I am farther away from him in the office.
13.) Told me he works two jobs, is earning a second degree, and is on a board related to my workplace of which he does work at home for.
14.) Told me he took up for me at my interview, got me my requested hourly wage, and is my lead boss per his position.
My best friend says he is just being friendly, is a family man, and wants to get know his new employee better, me.
i have spent time with my other bosses and don’t get the same vibes I am getting from my lead boss. Is he just being friendly or is there more?
