Ah man, running into an ex is always awkward! But I wouldn't read too much into the stare down. Dudes get weird looking at girls they used to mess with sometimes.
Could be he wasn't expecting to see you and got thrown off. Or maybe thought you'd ignore him so he stared first. Hard to say what was really going through his head in that moment.
If it were me, I probably wouldn't think much of it. Like you clicked eyes, so what? Unless he tries to reach out or something, I wouldn't assume it means he still likes you or anything.
