What’s his true intentions with me?

So my boyfriend and I were together for 1 year and 8 months. Him and I would always fight over this one girl he was friends with. She’s in her 40s has kids and a boyfriend. My friend told me that him and I her have had sex so I made them stop talking. He would cry saying he would change and he didn’t want to lose me. A week ago he broke up with me saying I’m too clingy and to give him space. But then he was crying saying he didn’t want to lose me. I messaged him yesterday and everything is fine and he did he just needed space and I gave him that but he’s not really continuing the conversation with me. He’s going to see her on Saturday he told me. Like does he want us both or just want her? I’m so lost.

Him and I would talk all the time I would sleepover his house and we went on many dates. She was out of the picture for months but now she’s back in it. He still has my stuff so I don't know if that’s the only reason he’s keeping me around to give me my stuff back. He told me he wants to make things work out with me
