I'm way into positive affirmation towards those I let into my life -- guys or girls -- but recently the question of whether guys get sufficient (or any) affirmation came up. I've also worked in places where affirmation and acknowledgement of others is important, but... perhaps that's not everyone's experience. Please share if you can. I'd like to know!
My brother-in-law said he looked up to me and that he doesn't look up to many people. And I'm still not sure whether he meant that figuratively or literally as we're both over six feet. But I am decidedly bigger than him.
It's funny your question got me to thinking. Most guys I think get implied compliments. Not direct compliments. It could be we're just not used to hearing them. Or it's just accepted that our gender doesn't require them. Because when I read your question I struggled to come up with one that stood out in my life. Yet I've always felt sufficiently loved by my family.

I’ve never really gotten a genuine meaningful compliment. I think that’s pretty common among men.
Nothing in particular. Lots of nice things have been said.
That I was the most thoughtful guy she had ever been with and that she was sorry she had to leave.
Even if such a thing was said, I won't remember that.
Not sure if I can remember a time where anyone other than my mother said anything nice about me.
I don't know about nicest, but I got told I looked like an airline pilot the other day. The way I dress for work looks sort of similar I guess, white shirt with epaulettes etc.
