Why would a friends with benefits care about what I wanted?

My friends with benefits has a daughter, I suggested we see each other on Sunday and he said he might be seeing her for a few hours but will let me know.

I forgot that it was Father’s Day (I don’t have a dad so don’t celebrate) and text him saying he doesn’t need to see me and that we can rearrange so he can see his daughter.

He text back saying he’d only be seeing her for a few hours, but I told him that I didn’t want to be selfish and we can rearrange.

He’s asking me what I’d rather him do, why is he so bothered about what I’d want him to do? I’ve told him but he keeps asking me what I want. It seems unusual for a friends with benefits.
