What does it mean when a guy won't talk to you in public?

There's this guy who I have known for a long time but only started talking to recently. It's all been over the internet or via text that we've been talking, and a little bit in person when no one else is around. But what I don't get, especially because this happens every time I get close to a guy is that when we're with a group in public he won't talk to me. If I talk to him he'll talk to me a little bit but I don't want to seem too clingy. Especially because I almost feel like he's embarrassed to be seen talking to me in public or something. And then sometimes when I get home I have a text from him and we start talking like nothing happened. Sometimes I wonder if it's really him that I'm talking to.

Doesn't sound like he's a good guy for you. By texting him back like nothing happened after he just basically pretended not to know you, is telling him it's ok to ignore you when your with people because you'll still be there later.

I would bring it up to him the next time that happens and tell him it's not ok. I know guys who do that just to keep there options open because he knows girls won't approach if it looks like something is going on between the two of you.

I think you should find someone else, personally. If a guys isn't excited to be with you and want to show it to the world he might not be that into you.

Could be he is shy with people or girls in general or in crowded place, but when he's alone or in smaller groups, he can open up better.. I'm kinda like that, but I wouldn't shun anyone in public. but in big groups, I tend to be the quieter guy :/
