Well, this explains a hell of a lot about me. I can't keep still for the life of me
this was so informative. I'm def one of those people who always thought fast metabolism was a thing haha
I've stayed a consistent 140lbs, single digit bodyfat for like the past 15 years, explain that even when I had a horrible diet before I got into bodybuilding always stayed consistently the same.
also ehh yes and no.
You were made for this topic. Lol.
#spazgirl #bouncebouncebby
I learned something new today. Awesome
Thanks!
*I'm doing stuff Lori... THANGS!!!
by the way, I've an other explanation for this as a doctor myself.
people with type A personality tends to be more thinner compared to TYPE B ones because of the high stress hormone levels in their body, which causes high metabolic rate due to an increase in BMR caused by these hormones.
I could be wrong but that's what I've for the explanation 😛
Are you talking about cortisol and sympathetic hormones (adrenaline, norepinephrine)?
Yup, they cause lipolysis and hyperglycemia and counteract the actions of insulin which is lipogenesis (Storing of fat) .
Some of the examples are Epinephrine and norepinephrine, thyroxin, GH, Glucagon.
They're also referred as stress hormones.
Not just lipolysis -- they also break down lean tissue, too. Which is why people who take sympathomimetics (amphetamines etc) lose muscle mass, too.
Cortisol is a double-edged sword. It has certain acute effects, but it also leads to systemic inflammation which can ultimately bring about opposing effects.
And if the sympathetic systems are too highly activated too much of the time, they'll cause sleep problems, which can also make people fat. (Sleep loss doesn't literally make people hungrier, usually... but, when people are awake for more hours, they eat more!)
well if your sympathetic system keeps activated all the time, your adrenal glands will exhaust and the production of epinephrine and norepinephrine will also decreases which in turn increase your appetite since they're also appetite suppressants which acts at your Central Nervous system level. There're certain amphetamine like drugs which are actually used to reduce obesity in morbidly obese patients e. g. - "Fentermine"
The effect of Amphetamine which cause muscle wasting is called Myolysis, many other drugs do it too e. g. "Statins"
You may have seen chiefly diabetic and heart patients taking these medications to decrease gaining fat.
it's cool to find someone to know these stuff here 😇
well... some of us have one. It means I can sit around all day and eat a chocolate cake and drink loads of beer... and never go above 175lb
Now I can better explain what I ment when I tried explaining it to others. Because I noticed it on my body that it is depending on this
And what about medication?
Just this year I was taken off some meds that out-served their purpose and I lost a good 20-30 lbs pretty darn quick.
There's no such thing as thyroid problems, but I can promise you that there is such a thing as a high metabolism and you can control it.
Are you saying no has ever had a problem with a Thyroid? lol. I think an Endocrinologist with disagree. Maybe you mean to say it doesn't cause' weight gain to the extent people claim. They use it as an excuse for being massively over weight.
@MrAtticusLebowski
If the point was the target, you missed it by a mile
No, plenty of people do have thyroid problems.
@nog642 Plenty of people have a problem not managing their heath problems properly. When you manage a health problem properly you don't have incredible negative effects, you know like becoming 600lbs. It just doesn't happen.
@Gommers Alright, but it's not nonexistant.
@nog642 I will acknowledge that as a viable answer until people start living a healthy lifestyle.
my metabolism is so fast Im a skinny lean guy. I can eat insane amounts of food and will not put on any weight.
Do you also sell essential oils on facebook, or maybe deny that vaccines work?
@fearless_banana look at her misinform all these people with nonsense.
Doing things?
Nah, sleeping and sitting is way easier.
Hmmm, that was a quick take for you. And spot on.
What about thyroid activity?
Thyroid problems NEVER cause weight fluctuations of more than 10 or 15 lbs. That's the maximum gain due to the thyroid, even in cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (where the thyroid gland literally doesn't work at all).
If someone gains more than about that amount, then that *can't* be blamed on the thyroid. That's a lifestyle issue.
__
In fact, even the American Thyroid Association -- which, if anything, has a vested interest in *exaggerating* the problem -- says only 5-10 pounds on its official website!

I'm glad I have a fast metabolism.
How does one fidget to burn 100 calories?
Just keep movin'! xx
Absolutely bang on
It's high metabolism, not fast metabolism.
