I know they seem daunting. They look big, and uncomfortable, not to mention messy!
Im wanting to convince you otherwise. Just like a tampon when inserted correctly the cup cannot be felt! How do you get it in? You fold it, there are various different folds most commonly the 'C' fold (or 'U' fold) and the punch down fold.

But these are only two of many. The idea of it is to get it small enough to be able to push it in then once it's inside you it should pop open.
Now let's talk about the cost, for a year you will be spending approximately $70 on tampons. The cup I use I bought for $10 and it can last for up to 5 years!
You don't have to change it all the damn time! I've put a cup in at 3pm and not changed it until 6pm the next day. Not even half full. Not to mention the risk of tss? Eliminated. Much better for your body as you are retaining your natural fluids. Much better for the environment because of how long it last!
So so here are my tips for you when you do give it a go.
1. Some people will find the stem of the cup to be too long. First ensure the cup is in as far as you can possibly get it, then cut the stem little by little until you are comfortable with the length.
2. Can't get the cup to pop open? Typically people say to twist the cup but personally that doesn't work for me, my tip is to pull it out slightly then angle it downward and push it back in.
3. Want a tighter fit? Try bearing down and pushing and continue to push as you relax.
4. When it comes to emptying your cup, I recommend laying a couple layers of toilet paper in the bowl so you don't stain it. To get the rest of residue out just use toilet paper, rinse it on the sink if you like or put it right back in.
5. To clean your cup at the end of your cycle, simply pop it into a pot of boiling water and let it boil for a couple min then get it out, let it dry and put it back into its little carry bag.
