What basketball taught me about anxiety

Anonymous

a lot of times people suffer unnecessarily because of unchecked emotions

What basketball taught me about anxiety

Modern psychology is proving that emotions are addictive

Which is scary because the brain is often directed by these emotions

What you think is a response to how your gut feels, to how fast your heart races

Your body LEARNS these emotions. So yes they are irrelevant

When I was playing basketball I noticed my shot and everyones shot got worse when we shot from the baseline

Because there wasn't a backboard

There was more anxiety about missing

Now I looked some exercises up on how to reduce anxiety. Sprinting works

It somehow tricks the body into thinking you're safe

What do you know, I got "hot." I couldnt miss a shot.

Now when am I most susceptible to anxiety? When meeting someone for the first time

isn't that ironic because the first impression is super fucking important.

Im convinced this is why 70% of billionaires have a background in sales

They dont have anxiety around meeting new people and more importantly anxiety about sharing ideas

Wanna make someone anxious? Ask them what they think, not how they feel

Replace "how are you" with "hey man." Let them talk to you.

Then hit them with a poignant question. "Any ideas about x y z?" Watch them squirm

Its their fault for not mastering anxiety.
