My advice as a passionate fiction writer is...
Become a gynecologist.
Go and get the health scholarship because in the end GAs will be much more needed in the world than writers. It's your safe ground and something that if you like, you will be able to make a living out of in practically no time.
If you are already wealthy, then become a writer, because chances are, you'll spend several years trying to get your work published, unless you've found the secrets to today's commercial hits, like young adult novels such as Divergent, 50 shades or The Hunger Games or whatever commercial is out there. Otherwise, be ready to be a passionate writer at the same time that you'll be a waitress or something else. There is no way of being a full time writer if you want to be making a living at the same time, at least in the first years.
Now, a piece of advice in case you do want to go for writing... it doesn't matter if you're amazing in English class, it matters nothing. "understanding everything your teacher says" means nothing. What matters is that you have an unstoppable creativity and the will to be sitting long hours typing down all those amazing ideas, taking notes, absorbing inspiration from everywhere. Literature is an art, it doesn't have anything to do with your school performance. When you start writing your stuff, have people read it and criticize it, like Beta Readers. Probably your siblings, friends, or even your parents, whatever your target audience is.
And never give up in case of writing. I am writing part time, because I do have a job as a designer, which is my way of living. So be careful. Because if you choose medicine you will have little to no time available left for writing. Think about it a lot , you're still very young.

"When I get older"
NOw im wondering HOW OLD YOU ARE
Pick one and hang with it if you really want to do it. I'd stick with the gynecologist because that has much more of a chance to give you a living that is much more dependable than an author.
Writing is something you can do in your personal time as a hobby for like a blog or just for writing your own stories. But your livelihood doesn't depend on your expertise or passion for the field- it depends on if people even care to read your stuff, know it exists, etc...basically, it's out of your control largely. That "starving artist" stereotype isn't just a stereotype, it's pretty close to reality (if not completely).
But you're young and have plenty of time in front of you to decide what you want to do. A large number of people I graduated high school with didn't end up where they are now by sticking to their first plan out of high school. Things change, you learn and become aware of more, start really getting a feel for the world (because high school ISN'T, trust me).
Planning to become a full time author/writer is a really terrible idea in today's job market. Most authors/writers that you like to read probably didn't study the subject in school, just like most musicians you listen to don't have music degrees. I just got out of school, and have lots of unemployed friends with English majors. If you get an English degree, you might be able to get a job writing instruction manuals for toaster ovens though (technical writing).
I'd recommend journalism if you're really into writing.
Becoming a doctor is expensive, but cool if you can pull it off.

Write stories about gynecology? LOL
My GF told me that her GA said she had the most beautiful cervix she'd ever seen. Normally I would have made some snarky remark but I was too much in shock because I don't know what this means. Can you explain? What makes a cervix beautiful?
Anyway, aside from just grammar and spelling do you really think you could write something that captivates and sells? If so go with writing because you could be rich. If not, go with gynecology because it's guaranteed.
