Hi :)
I sometimes get this aswell, like really painful cramping around my lower tummy and around the lower back and I used to have no problems previously with my periods. A lot of women can just start having more painful periods and they do sometimes get better with age so try not to worry about it too much. Some months go by fine, others are just an absolute nightmare and I'm all curled up on the couch in pain. Maybe there are specific links to lumbar cramp because a lot of women do get back pain during their periods so it could either be just bad period pain or it could be something else, so it wouldn't necessarily point to anything drastically wrong.
If it keeps happening maybe go see your doctor because it could be symptomatic of something like endometriosis or dysmenorrhoea, which isn't really a major issue but at least by going they can tell if something like that is the cause and can give you some strong painkillers to relieve some of the discomfort.
A few things that really help when I get back pain though are a heat pad/hot water bottle on the back or a very warm bath. I hate doing this cos I just want to sit on my bum during my period lol but try moving about, exercise or just walking has been proven to alleviate menstrual cramps. Don't drink coffee or caffeine, tea or hot chocolate if you want something warm and try some ibruprofen or something a bit stronger than your run of the mill paracetamol. You could even get some over the counter meds that you can use up to your period which should be more effective when it comes to your cycle because they'll have had time to kick in.
I hope something I said was some help, but don't worry, period pain changes a lot and varies all the time so it doesn't necessarily mean anything's wrong :)
