Hmm, if you've ruled out anything overtly medically wrong, then a few things would spring to mind to me; as someone who has suffered from joint pain without much help from the medical establishment.
It might be an emotional repression, ie think of a natural mentality towards your body, where, if you had a pain somewhere, you would feel the pain, and still keep up with activity, within reason, because using joints and muscles prevents atrophy and strengthens them. The reverse is some kind of emotional discomfort, where you try and over-protect the joint, not putting much weight on it or using the full range of motion, and so you kind of, embed any kind of pain you have.
Also, what's your general health and lifestyle like? They're slowly starting to discover that good digestive health is linked to good joint health. Are you getting to bed at 11pm? Rested, with a full nights sleep? Are you overweight. Are you eating nutritious foods along with some treats? Overeating is really bad for your joints in particular, because processing and digesting food requires a lot of energy, and thus it is diverted away from healing.
Exercise? You need to do activities where you are in your body, rather than your head all the time. Perpetually studying without any rest is bad for you, doing stuff that is physically challenging strengthens your body and keeps it ticking over.
I'd suggest some physiotherapy to get the joint moving again with some stretching. Of course, I'm by no means an expert here. I'm also a big advocate of internal martial arts such as tai chi or xing yi, maybe even yoga if you prefer that, something that again, gets you in touch with your body.
Just my 2 pence.
