Teen girls love this story because it contains forbidden love and the possibility of danger. Edward is a vampire, and he could simply kill Bella to drink her blood. He's dangerous, mysterious, and desribed in the book multiple times as beautiful, perfect, etc. Bella is an ordinary girl with lots of angst, like most teenage girls. So they feel they can relate, and then all of a sudden it's not really about Bella and her path of finding true blood-sucking love. It's about the readers, and their wanting something romantic and sexy and a little dangerous.

This is a generalization, of course. I can't speak from experience because I personally hate the books. =)

While I disagree with the need to obsess about the movie. I do like the movie Twilight, and I'm looking forward to seeing "New Moon" on the 20th. I have always found vampires, special attributes (such as super-human speed), and magic appealing because it is something "different".

People enjoy the novels just like people enjoy the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Harry Potter series. They're just good books and people love them. Boys included not just dumbass girls. As for the movie, its lame in comparison to the books, and they casted everyone wrong wrong wrong for the books, as so often happens. And IMO people who say they love Twilight but haven't read the books can go die in a ditch. Ditto HP and LOTR. Peace out x

Well if it were Lord of the Rings then it wouldn't be Twilight.

There's not a lot of great cultural works put out each decade. So there will be a few half-assed ones that get people's attention, because it works for them. No need to diss it. It's just... for the ladies.

I don't know, surely they must see that it is not worth the time and adoration they're giving it. They're in love with a story a woman made up of her own fantasy dream life and they think that Robert guy is hot, which... I'd have to disagree. And things don't play like they do in that story as they do in real life. I dislike the movie and the book.

Like so many series it has a cult following. I think that about half of the fans are just watching the show to be popular and part of the scene. Although, there is about half of the people who must simply like it for what it is.

I think that the guy with all the make up and fake teeth is the reason girls like it. I also would like to hit the girl in the movie with a bat until her face looks like an omelet.
