Girls, do any of you know if you absolutely have to have a prescription for birth control?

I need to get on it but I don't have insurance and can't afford an exam. My boyfriend and I had a pregnancy scare and even though we're old enough t handle it, it's just bad timing. So now he's completely cut off sex until I can get on it.

Go to planned parenthood. Goes on income and they have a sliding scale. Can be cheap and or free. You can also apply for something called a pink card ( or at least that's what it is in Illinois) covers all reproductive checks and birth control) you can apply for it at planned parenthood as well

Yes. You need to go to a doctor to determine what the correct dosages or method for you will be. Getting it out of the back of someone's van means you're probably getting rat poison.

Birth Control pills come in several combinations of hormones. A doctor can best determine what can suit you best. If health goes south after taking them [every single hormone pill has a side effect - unique to it], you do know whom to revert back? Don't you?

Depending on your income you can always get the Birth Control Implant which is between 0 and 800 dollars, but prevents pregnancy for up to 3 years
